We are working hard planning a SurThrive Samoyeds litter for Spring 2024.
A decision to bring puppies into this world is a serious responsibility, one that we do not take lightly. Planning a litter is a lot of work, involving health checks, careful consideration and selection of breeding partners, and, most importantly, inviting you to share your life with a Samoyed puppy.
Raising a Samoyed is a big responsibility.
Samoyeds are smart, active, hard working dogs. A happy Samoyed need lots of activity, plenty of stimulation, constant companionship, has lots to say, and plenty of love to share.
Samoyeds are not retiring or reserved. They don't like being left alone or ignored. A bored Samoyed will find its own fun, like chewing a couch, tearing up dry wall, or pulling up a carpet.
A Samoyed definitely does not like being left alone for hours at a time, while you go to work or go out for dinner.
Sharing your life with a Samoyed is a full time deal, 7/24.
Here are some important things to think about if you want to live a Samoyed Life.
Samoyeds are generally not a first-time dog. Having plenty of experience raising dogs will definitely help you raise a happy Samoyed. They are vocal dogs who have lots to say. Samoyeds sing, warble, talk, and bark. Don't expect a quiet dog if you are raising a Samoyed. Samoyeds can dig, especially if they're bored. Leaving a Samoyed alone in a yard for hours at a time will not lead to a good result. Yes, Samoyeds love the outdoors. They can't get enough of it. But remember, Samoyeds are pack animals that have worked closely with people for thousands of years. They want you to be outside with them.
Do you have a happy place for a Samoyed, somewhere with a fenced yard, plenty of time for walks, lots of attention and love to share? Do you have patience for teaching your Samoyed some rules? Training and obedience classes are an important part of raising a happy Samoyed. Do you love outdoor activities that you want to share with your Samoyed, like hiking, nature walks, or sledding?
We are so excited to learn about your plans for a happy, exciting Samoyed Life.
